Resumen: The reproductive phenotgy of four species of mangroves is described. There was a clear relationship between water balance of the study site and flowering arid fruhing peaks. All the species analyzed shed their fruits during the rainy season when water levels within the forest are maximum. Fruit production in Avicennia bicolor forests in some years can exceed three million fruits per hectare. Avicennia species show a temporal displacement of their reproductive events.
